There are a lot of VB users and so it would a fair thread Wink

I am currently very happy with Vbulletin and I plan to use Vbulletin for all of my forums in future. Just looking to get your opinions Tongue

I don't have enough cash to afford Vbulletin. So I would have to go for a free software. Though I see that most of the big forums I visit uses Vbulletin, so there must be something great about it Shocked

agreed, the license fee is not cheap, and maybe worth around $160.
As I heard that it has two types of license; one is leased type and the other is owned type.
I think the leased type license is less expensive.
I hope to buy the owned license with my friends and we need to pay a smaller lump for it. Smiley

I think vbulletin is one of the best forum software around, but the price is a little steep for a piece of software that you don't 'physically' own. For the price they charge they should also send you it on CD with written manuals. lol

vBulletin is alot better then everything else in my opinion. Alot more features, alot better addon's, more support etc., overall, vBulletin is just better. SMF is really good, as I used it before I used vBulletin. Other than SMF, I heard IPB was meant to be really good, so I'm not sure how that fares in comparison to vBulletin.

The only bad thing I can say about vBulliten is how expensive it is. The Admin CP has just so many features, and it is just so customizable. I love it, and would love to own a license one day.

I agree that vBulletin is one of the best forum softwars around, but many people are turned off by the price it takes to own a license. You can really about the same features you would see in vBulletin on phpBB (which is often customizable to fit your needs) for free. I'd rather use the $100+ for a license on something else.

Well if you can't afford the $100 price, then there's really no point in bothering. Alot of large business' use vBulletin, as it's highly customizeable- really user friendly and overall better than everything else.
There really isn't any reason to complain if you can't buy it; just use something else until you can afford it; that's what I did.

The feature that makes vBulletin stand out from a forum owner's perspective is the ease of the upgrade process.  Clearly a lot of thought has been put in to this by the designers and coders and it is a very easy and smooth upgrade path.

I would say that vbulletin is the best if you can afford it. There are many skins, plugins and modules to improve the already big feature list. The support for vbulletin is great and it can handle many users and posts easily

The price is there so that the developers can continue to work on it. Same with Invision Power. I mean they bought their own building for their company from IP.Board and charging for its many features. vB is cheaper than IPB in short and long term.

Been using it for around 2 years and find that I am addicted to it. It has some of the best templates.

People who say the ACP confuses them has obviously never spent more than ten minutes inside of it, or haven't at all.

If you are willing to purchase a vBulletin license, it definitely shows how serious you are about running a successful community. I've seen a lot of positive reviews about vBulletin and I'm planning on purchasing an owned license very soon. Also, for those of you who don't know, a leased vBulletin license is $85 each per year. An owned vBulletin license is priced at $160 and includes free updates for a year.
