To me, I think phpBB should have a built portal and i would think a lot more people would use it, especially noobs like me can love using a portal. There is many 3rd program parties who can make portals for phpBB, just wish they would make their own built one. What you guys think?

well if you plan on using phpbb long term then go for it. Otherwise, I'd say no if you plan on converting to another board.

If you're going to stay with PHPBB, I would go for a portal. It adds more functionality to the forums and makes it easier to navigate latest posts etc.

My opinion is that a Portal to phpBB is good and no harmful.
But I will try it on version phpBB 3 whether it is a beta or release now.
I haven't done any checking for its current stable version indeed.

I shall not advice to do anything like this. I think there are many, many more things on which you can plan a portal.

You can try
www.mkportal.it
. It integrates with PHPbb so that when your users login from the portal they are also logged in from the forum. It also comes with many features like a topsite, image gallery, chatroom and more. The best part is that the portal will look like your forum skin because mkportal takes the design from your phpbb skin. If you prefer to have a different look you can also download other themes from their site

Depends on what kind of forum you are running. I always like portals on forums but Im basically indifferent. phpbb has some nice mods for it.
