I was searching through the Internet and webmaster forums seem to be the most popular forums to be started right now. Does anyone know of any other niche that is popular to start a new forum in?

Gaming forums seem to be quite popular.  I see new gaming forums accrue membership very quickly.  And I mean both online MMORPG and console gaming forums.

The hottest niches would be for the newest trends, like 3rd generation gaming or iPhones etc.

Gaming seems like fads as the gaming industry changes all the time. Do any of you see these as long term or just a quick in and out? Any other ideas of what is hot right now?

hottest niche means VERY cometitive market, but to answer your question, technology is a very good 'niche' to get into, eventhough there ARE tons of competition, there are also tons of new technology out there!

personally tho, i would prefer getting into a less 'crowded' niche... then it would be up to 'me' to market that niche!

Forums based around a single game, if it is a console game, could make a great quick in-and-out opportunity to make a few bucks quickly.  However, you can then daisy-chain the traffic from such a forum, bringing up another forum for the next "fad" game and channeling the traffic there and so on.

With gaming forums, you are also targetting a very active Internet demographic (adolescent/young adults) so many promotion options are available (MySpace etc.)

Maybe a good TV series, one that will last for five years or so.

I actually wish that I started a LOST or HEROES forums before. Too bad I was too late.

Although the hottest niche is webmaster forums bit I think we should work on Health, Finance, and Sports niche as well because there is a lot of room available in this.

Yes it is true there are many webmaster and web hosting forums but I am starting to see an increase in health and fitness forums as people become more health aware.  I think money sense forums could become a more hot niche in the future as well.  I would love to start one about how to start saving money for you children's education.
