Yes, posting on the forum itself shows your involvement. But the one key thing to remember is that, what forum owners have to do is participate in the discussions of the community, but not be the thread creators of every topic.

I think as the admin of a forum you should regularly post and be involved. You (and your staff) are always the driving force for your site. this also allows you the chance to keep an eye on everything.
