I have been on forums where there is a separate section for "games". These are usually word games that give people the opportunity to participate and post something even if they have little to contribute to the main flow of conversation at the forum. Are these type of "games" a good idea?

I have seen those games on general section of the forums. I think these can contribute a little, as a whole these are not important.

I think these games can be a good idea if you have many forum lurkers who are a little afraid to open up and post in main threads. It can encourage greater participation.

Also there are games specific to the niche of your forum that can definitely encourage participation. Betting is a good one for sports forums to consider.

Yes, good point about the betting. That seems to be a popular addition particularly to vbulletin based sporting forums Are there mods for other forum packages that allow betting?

Is that really necessary for a forum about forum owners?

Relevant word games are great for encouraging regular activity and elevating the post count. Has any raised the issue with the forum owner here? I'll post somethign in the suggestions section...

I enjoy putting arcade games on a few of my forums but "posting games" are good too because it really doesn't take the whole idea away from forums

the are post producers and they will raise the post count on a forum. They also can help you get members involved with each other and coming back over and over again. The entire forum can not be just those games, but anything that keeps members on your forum longer is a positive thing!

Yes, It is a good idea. I imagine it would interest a wide audience. I’d certainly link to it. This forum gives opportunity to participate and talk something about this game. =============================================================== vinus Need natural backlink growth and residual referral traffic?
