There is a lot of fuss about optimizing, SEO, and related stuff. Can someone tell me what are optimized links or how to make ordinary links optimized?

Usually the normal links in forum to the posts or any board will be like /p?=xxxx or /member.php?u=xxxx etc

This is usually not good with respect to Search engines like Google.
But if you optimize URLs, then the links will be like /post-topic etc. So if someone searches Google for "forum-topic" then your link will have more chances to come up.

It changes stuff like "index.php?action=post;topic=220.0;num_replies=1" to "/view-topic/some-random-topic-name.htm"

Search engines have an easier time crawling such files.

Can we do it in PHP. I think first link contains some PHP code and other is straight html. Can we convert PHP links to simple html?

Usually, this is done via some third-party add on.
