I don't think so because it has soo many security flaws, I would recommend if you have a big forum to switch to IPB or vBulletin because they update constantly and less security flaws. Most hackers work with phpBB anywayz. My opinion.

phpBB can be good to start of with, but if you are looking to create a big forum, vBulletin is your best option.

Yes, phpBB won't work for huge websites unless you spend hours maintaining it.

vBulletin is an easy to maintain forum software.

There are some very very good security mods to protect phpbb.  If you have the budget to spend, go with vbulletin because it is already fairly safe and it is the most widely recognized and understood forum software in the user's standpoint.  I feel that is the best reason to go with vbulletin, not for the security.

But that does not mean phpbb is bad. Just different.

100% agreed, many big forums are using Vbulletin 3.6.x as I have seen in the internet. Grin
It is stable too but the license fee is $160... Tongue

How do people hack phpBB? I use phpBB and have never been hacked. Maybe there is something forum owners do that makes them vulnerable to attacks. If not, then I suppose I will need to switch.

How can somebody switch from phpBB to another forum software without losing all the forum's data?

You are the luckiest person, if you are not hacked. I think this was my worst decision to set it up but I am using smf at the moment. PHPBB shouldn't be used without mods or other security measures.

phpBB is pretty cool.
But security wise, don't use it for big websites.
It'll be like committing suicide.

vBulletin I think is the best forum for a website, but if you cannot afford something like that, phpBB3 would work best! That is what I am using at least.
