I just wanted to know if anyone else have been trying this trick? Signature Advertising is one of the easiest tricks to grab traffic to your forums. I have been doing this for a while and get a fair amount of visitors, some of which turn into members also What you do is join the Active Forums in the same niche and continue posting on a regular basis, mostly making new attracting threads for more attention to your signature. Try to use a text link is a big size rather small for grabbing more visitors

Yes, I have implemented this with varying degrees of success. Have you seen the variants mentioned in ForumOwner's post here: http://www.forum-owners.com/index.php/topic,11.0.htmlThese helped me quite a bit in varying the way I present my forum signature.

I use this method. I try to make sure that the forum shows the signature to everybody, whether they are logged in or not. Also, I try to make sure that the forum doesn't put rel="nofollow in the link.

Even with the rel=nofollow attribute, the link can still generate good traffic. I suppose it depends on your objective, whether backlink building or traffic generation.

I've also used it to varying degree of success. Some of my sites got a good amount of traffic. The main important thing is the choose the anchor text and a small description properly. It shouldn't be like a bad sales pitch, but should look like a geniune informative site/forum.

I have never used mine before, but I have purchased people's sigs for an amount of time. Personally, I've seen little success with this, but there are people who make their livings selling sigs so it must work for some people.

This is a great way to advertise. I do suggest that you contribute as a good member and stay with the forum so you are not just flagged as a spammer. The other thing to be aware of is that some forums do not allow you to promote a site similar to theirs. I was a member of a frugal living forum for a couple of years so when I started my frugal living site, I naturally advertised in my signature line of the forum. I posted over 1000 quality post over the time I was with the forum and I got a really nasty email from the admin saying that if I did not take the competing link down right away, they would ban my IP from using the site. I am no longer a member of the forum because I removed myself as well.

I've found it a very effective way to bring in a bit of traffic. Especially when the forum is in the same niche as yours and you're an active member at that forum

I have used this method at times. However, in my case I have just not found it to be too effective.

I prefer to buy someone else's sig space, especially when it's on a competing forum.

I like doing signature advertising on other forums, because I know the people who see it are interested in forums. Not everyone is willing to join a discussion forum, so by focusing on other forums you can make sure you aren't wasting your time.

I've tried this as well. It only generated little amounts of traffic at first, but as time passed, and as the forums I went to got larger, the more traffic started coming to my forums. Eventually, it came to be that I was getting thousands of views on a weekly basis. Pretty good if you ask me.
You could always try making signatures and avatars, wallpapers etc., with your websites name on it, so people know where it came from and who did it. This has also worked for me.

I think there should be something in your forum as well which would attract people. Having a marketplace is a good idea where members would contribute.

Try to use a text link is a big size rather small for grabbing more visitors I think it's much more appealing to have a medium sized banner signature image rather than use just a text link. Text links can easily be missed, but banners, the colors and whatnot will certainly attract some attention.

Amazingly this is very effective method becuase one of my site has more referring traffic via Signatures on other forums. I think this is the best way to increase traffic stats and business volume.
