Yes, I agree with you to a certain extent. I tend ignore most MySpace bulletins, particularly those from people with whom I am not in at least occasional contact. The daily spam bulletins from the same people go straight to the bit bucket.
Instead of buying a single bulletin to a friend list of, say, 40K people, I think it might be more productive to send a bulletin to 200 friends with whom you are in regular contact and ask them to send it on to their friends. Your amount of exposure will then cascade among good quality contacts (people who are in frequent contact with their friend list members) instead of the lower quality high-number friend lists who in all likelihood never look at bulletins. Does that make sense ?
